On the way to Coarsegold, we couldn't resist this joint, advertising "DONUTS, LONG HOT DOGS, and MILKSHAKES"
The grand entrance to the jewel of Escapees' parks
A securely gated RV community (when gate isn't broken)
The deliberately oversized clubhouse
Handmade stained glass by one of the members
Multilevel deck out back
Plenty of room for socializin' inside
After aborted attempts at precision, mail gets collected "when carrier is here"
More POS postal humor
Customized stagecoach with Winegard TV antenna and MaxAir roof vent
Everything here is a POS
Older P/S camper is now in long term storage
The POS Balancing Rock
The story goes that Indians used to gather here, near Coarsegold Creek, and dream of one day owning a hotel/casino
Behold, the brand-new, superdeluxe hotel/casino the Indians built across the valley from good old Coarsegold Creek
Pretty flowers and bright green trees
Cool-looking Manzanita trees abounded
Gate leads to the former Teddy Roosevelt Highway, which TR used to travel through the area--now a fire road
Maintenance yard, containing everything you need to build a sprawling RV park from scratch
Workshop full of tools available to residents and guests
Water towers atop the hill serve the entire park
Our neighbor and tour guide Josie, whose pad included covered parking and an outdoor spa
We lived on Digger Pine Trail
Had a nice lot at the top of a hill
The view from the vacant spot across the street
Nestled carefully into position among the big trees
Quite a lovely spot to spend a few months
Each site has its own shed to contain its owner's possessions while they're out travelling
Nice view of the mostly undeveloped forest
Homes are even provided for the birds
This woodpecker preferred to punch holes in our shed
They sure are distinctive looking birds, and fun to watch flit back and forth across the street, if a bit noisy
The quail preferred to run rather than fly
Hey, no bears allowed. Shoo! (Carey is such a dork. This is a postcard!)
Twas a great place to get some daily exercise on the bike, offering both on- and off-road riding
The dreaded Cardiac Summit: 1729-1/2 feet
Shedview Terrace was one of many nice customizations along the route
The Lizard (note the eyeball)
One day the sun lined up with the dish for a while. Almost as cool as a solar eclipse!
Debbie got a kick out of watching the geezers program messages on the POS TV channel
We don't think they realized it broadcast while they were editing
It was strangely compelling to watch each and every character and backspace entered
This Fresno weatherman/haircaster used to be in Austin... Colin Something
Debbie wedged herself between the slide and the ceiling to do some serious cleaning
With superhuman determination, Debbie compounded and waxed the entire rig by hand
The finish had little black spots scattered around that could only be removed by compounding
We also dove into every nook and cranny in a quest to seal air leaks. Here, the air return plenum.
Sealing behind the circuit breaker panels.
This innocent-looking bathroom picture...
... was hiding a space that needed to be sealed!
After two delightful months, the sun finally set on our stay at the POS, and it was time to move on.
